Reverend Joann White, Pastor

The Reverend Joann White is an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and a certified spiritual director. A graduate of McCormick Theological Seminary and the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago, Rev. White has received academic awards in theology, ethics, and Hebrew Bible. A gifted worship leader, she is the recipient of the Halsey Prize for creativity and imagination in preaching. She also was awarded third place in the 77th annual Writer's Digest Writing Competition's Inspirational Writing category for one of her storytelling sermons, titled "Come Out!".

Rev. Joann White has served churches in Wilmington, Delaware, and Chicago and Morton Grove, Illinois. She currently serves on the Committee on Ministry of the Northern New York Presbytery.

Rev. White began her service with the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake in January 2005. She is married to Duane Keith Gould, a music minister and lay pastor.

Priscilla Goss, Secretary

Priscilla Goss has served as church secretary since May 2005.

Pat Sprenger, Organist/Choir Director

Pat Sprenger currently serves as the church's organist and choir director. Choir rehearsals are at 7 p.m. each Wednesday from September through June.


The Session is a board of elders elected by the congregation to provide direction and leadership in governing the church. The Session meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month. The Clerk of Session takes notes and maintains statistics. The Session is moderated by the pastor.


Our deacons are paired up in teams to visit homebound members and friends of the church throughout the year. Pastor Joann White provides lessons in Christian caregiving and role-playing opportunities that serve to broaden and strengthen visitation and communication skills.
